About Belfast Hair Transplant
Hair restoration planned around the patient
We are a Belfast clinic for people considering surgical and non-surgical hair-loss treatment. The consultation starts with the person, the pattern of hair loss and the donor supply—not a package or a promised graft number.
About the Belfast clinic
Belfast Hair Transplant is based on Cromac Street in Belfast. We see people who want a proper assessment of their hair loss and a straightforward view of whether treatment is suitable. Some patients are considering surgery; others need advice about hair-loss medication, PRP treatment or monitoring their hair before making a decision.
Consultations can cover FUE hair transplantation, DHI and FUT, together with hairline, crown, beard and eyebrow restoration. The method is not chosen first. It follows an assessment of the scalp, donor area, medical history, treatment goals and likely pattern of future hair loss.
The surgeon
Meet Dr Harpreet Kalra
Dr Harpreet Kalra is a practising GP and hair-transplant surgeon, registered with the General Medical Council under number 7126076. His role in the consultation is to assess whether surgery makes sense, examine the donor area and explain the number of grafts that may be appropriate.
He also considers the proposed design, the condition of the existing hair and the possibility of further thinning. The aim is to agree a plan that uses the donor supply carefully and gives the patient a realistic understanding of the likely result, recovery and limitations.

Treatment follows the assessment
Suitability comes first
A visible area of hair loss does not automatically mean that surgery is the right next step. The consultation considers the type and progression of hair loss, the health of the scalp, the strength of the donor area and whether the patient’s expectations can be met. If surgery should be delayed or avoided, that should be explained before any commitment is made.
The donor area is treated as a limited supply
Hair moved during a transplant cannot be replaced in the donor area. Planning therefore needs to protect the appearance of the back and sides while preserving options if more hair is lost later. Our donor-area guide explains why density, hair calibre, previous surgery and the distribution of extraction all matter.
Patients should understand the whole plan
Before treatment, the patient should know why a particular method has been recommended, what area is being restored, the likely graft requirement, the confirmed cost and the limits of the proposed result. Scarring, early healing, shedding, aftercare and the longer growth timeline also need to be discussed in plain language.
Patient care
From consultation to aftercare
The first appointment is used to understand what has changed, how quickly the hair loss is progressing and what the patient wants to improve. Photographs and graft estimates can support that discussion, but they do not replace an examination of the scalp and donor hair.
If treatment goes ahead, the procedure and early recovery are explained beforehand. Patients receive instructions covering washing, sleeping, exercise and care of the donor and recipient areas. Our hair-transplant aftercare guide gives a fuller account of the early stages, while the recovery timeline explains how shedding and new growth usually develop over the following months.
Before-and-after photographs can show the range of work carried out, but one patient’s result cannot predict another’s. Starting density, donor supply, hair characteristics, graft numbers and healing all vary. Patients can view the clinic’s hair-transplant results with that difference in mind.
